Albert Mortensen founded Albert Mortensen Shipbrokers (AMS) in London and Belize in 1990. Early in his career, he practiced maritime law in several international and European firms. After that, he established shipbroking outlets in Torshavn and Copenhagen and gained invaluable experience and an excellent reputation for selling ships for the fishing industry. Having invested all his knowledge, contacts and experience in the new project, Albert built a successful, highly motivated team of professionals capable of solving the most complex tasks in a dynamic market.
For more than 30 years, AMS has been developing its unique system of work in the sale, purchase and financing of fishing vessels, newbuildings and fishing–related consultancy. That allows us to be among the industry leaders and accurately, quickly, and reasonably solve our clients' problems.
Over the years, AMS diversified into S+P for offshore support vessels and tugs, MPPs, container carriers, bulk carriers, tankers and chartering. Green ship recycling projects, dry–cargo chartering and transhipment projects make the bulk of our day-to-day activity now. But we will never forget our roots, so fishing is still one of our significant areas of expertise.
First-class service for buyers and sellers of all types of tonnage with special emphasis on fishing vessels. We will find and offer you the option that best meets your needs or we will market your vessel worldwide in the best possible way. We arrange transactions professionally, working on confidential basis and find a common language with regulators in any country of the world.
We work with the best and world-renowned naval architects and shipyards all over the world to offer our customers a ship that fully meets their needs and built quickly, with high-quality and at a fair price. Finance for such projects can also be arranged by our partner-banks working in conjunction with export credit agencies.
Limited port infrastructure in some places around the world doesn't allow for large vessels to call those ports and hence transhipment of cargoes (STS) is required in some places for export or import cargoes. We can help our clients to design and run such a transhipment project in many locations around the world. We can source all the required equipment and assets for these projects for purchase or charter and our Port Captains, Superintendents and other staff are always ready to help our clients around the world.
EXCELLENT SERVICES
Our close connections with shipyards and workshops around the world allow us to provide excellent service for clients wishing to perform repairs or conversions of their ships. We also help our clients with dry-docking at various shipyards around the world and our highly experienced Technical Superintendents are capable of sorting out almost any problem our clients would face.
Through our long-standing connections with the leading marine insurers, including brokers at Lloyd’s of London, we are well positioned to provide competitive insurance offers for fishing and other vessels.
We have considerable experience in arranging repairs, conversion and rebuilding of various vessels at a range of the different shipyards worldwide. We can offer lengthening, new engines, new wheelhouses, installation of deck equipment, new factories, freezing installations etc.
We can arrange to bunker our clients' and partners' vessels around the world. This is done through our long-standing connections with bunker suppliers in various ports and tankers placed in strategic offshore locations around the world.
We advise our Clients about access to fishing grounds in different countries and legal, bureaucratic and technical aspects of such projects. We can help our customers in preparation of fishing projects in any country of the world as well as conduct viability studies and research projects for them.
